Adolescence Awareness on Health and Hygiene

Adolescence Awareness on Health and Hygiene

Our aim is not only to provide health facility but also provide health education because we know that health education is the part of the health care that is concerned with promoting healthy behaviour. A person’s behaviour may be the main cause of a health problem, but it can also be the main solution. Through its programmes the CWSI made an excellent rapport with the young girls. It was found during the informal discussions with the girls that large numbers of girls used rags and could not afford the expenses to use pads. It means that poor Indian adolescent girls and women are at risk of vaginal and urinary tract infections (and thus illness, incontinence, and infertility) during every period from puberty to menopause.

Menstruation, the most natural bio-physiological phenomenon in a woman’s life cycle, is considered dirty and impure throughout India. This is reflected in the way the entire concept of Menstrual Hygiene gets handled. The shame, the secrecy, lack of access to clean pads or toilet facilities further adds to the challenges. This is a grave problem and needs immediate attention which made the Society to seriously think on the possibilities to cater to this unmet area the society proposed a need base activity which would use women as a key to change.

  • Rural woman can develop economically by providing direct and indirect employment.
  • For community of rural and urban females the hygiene levels can be improved.

The society started it’s a small unit of manufacturing of sanitary napkin. The napkin does not pollute the environment. Disposal is easy as mostly wood pulp is being employed which has a distinctive property of being biodegradable. While the Indian media has recently opened up to conversations about menstrual taboos, access still remains a major issue.

Adolescence is a critical stage of growth, both physically and emotionally. Promoting awareness about personal hygiene, reproductive health, nutrition, and mental well-being is essential to ensure a healthy transition into adulthood. Educating adolescents empowers them to make informed choices, build confidence, and adopt lifelong healthy habits. Let’s work together to create safe spaces, encourage open conversations, and provide access to health education for every young individual. Your contribution of ₹10,000 for each program can help make this possible.
